Department of Mining

DoM is the government organisation responsible for the regulating, monitoring, promoting and recording of mineral exploration and mining activity in Papua New Guinea. The Department contains the Geological Survey of Papua New Guinea, and so also has responsibility for collecting, distributing and archiving a wide variety of geoscientific data.

The DoM vision is:
"To be the premier organisation striving to make Papua New Guinea a globally competitive and attractive destination for investment in mineral resource exploration and development."

DoM mission is:
"To ensure that PNG's geological resources are properly documented, effectively promoted, sustainably developed and managed for the long-term benefit of the people of Papua New Guinea."
