Geological Mapping and Mineral District Surveys (GMMDS) Branch

An essential function of the Branch is regional geological mapping an activity that is not normally carried out by industry. Geological mapping at 1;250,000 scale (39 sheets) has been completed and is now in digital format. Some 38 maps at 1:100,000, mainly between the West Irian border and Wau have also been produced; a Wau 1:50,000 sheet is currently being upgraded.
