The Branch includes the Geophysical Observatory and the Exploration Geophysics Group. The former provides seismic surveillance of the PNG region using a nation-wide network that currently includes 16 seismograph stations. The Exploration Geophysics Group conducts standard geophysical surveys (gravity, resistivity, conductivity and magnetics) to assist with geotechnical studies and groundwater investigations. Databases are maintained of all geophysical survey information.
