The Exploration Geophysics Section provides assistance
in small-scale geophysical surveys
mostly in groundwater and geotechnical exploration.
Groundwater
In groundwater exploration
the section utilises the ABEM SAS300 terrameter capable of
penetrating depths up to at least 600 meters.
Geotechnical
In geotechnical investigations the Section utilises the ABEM multi-channel
terraloc. The Terraloc is a
24-channel seismic system. The Terraloc has been used mostly for
seismic refraction survey investigations for bridge and foundation
sites.
