Mining Division

The Mining Division is responsible for the administration of the Mining and Mining Safety Acts that regulate exploration and development of mineral resources in PNG. It promotes mining as a means of stimulating national development; promotes and facilitates small-scale mining to stimulate rural development; and ensures that mining operations are carried out in a manner that is technically, socially and environmentally responsible.

These responsibilities are carried out by five Branches - Project Coordination & Liaison, Mineral Project Assessment, Mines Inspection & Engineering, Tenements Administration, and Small Scale Mining.
